Job Description

Position Summary Responsible for preparing outgoing shipments. Manages incoming deliveries by verifying and signing for shipments, unloading and storing the received items, delivering items/product to the correct requestor/department, processes all paperwork in a timely manner, and ensures that safety regulations are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 
  1. Ensure department is clean, accessible and safe for employees and visitors.  
  2. Assist in counting of physical inventory.
  3. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  4. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with purchaser to rectify damages and shortages.
  5. Routes items to departments.   Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, bins or appropriate place.  Marks materials with identifying information.
  6. Operates forklift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from receiving platform to storage or work area.
  7. Completes work orders for stock.
  8. Uses computer to enter records.
  9. Assist others in the Receiving & Shipping Department and performs other duties as required.
  10. Accurately pulls inventory, and packs orders.
  11. Uses computer software to ship individual orders to customers.
  12. Prepares orders for freight shipments.
  13. Inspects and packages new products for future shipments.
  14. Performs other clerical tasks such as typing and mailing bills, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
  15. Communicate with other employees and outside vendors. 
  16. Maintain an organized & clean workspace.
 Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High School or equivalent; 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training.  Basic computer knowledge.  Forklift Certificate.  This position requires the ability to:
  1. Stand, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, reach, and lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular and repetitive basis 
            and maneuver up to - but not stopping at 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
  1. Drive forklift, manipulate hand truck and use other devises to move products/parts through the warehouse.
  2. Read, interpret, understand, carry out, and communicate instructions and correspondence both     orally and in writing.
  3. Present information to other employees.
  4. Perform individual responsibilities as well as being a team player.
  5. Count, add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, common fractions and decimals.
  6. Analyze and solve problems in standardized situations.

  10. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.   Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  11. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  12. Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of shipping Inventory software.
  13. Other Skills and Abilities - Ability to generate pick sheets, pull inventory for shipping, pack order, fill bill of ladings, and replace stock

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
